Hi! Welcome to Alex Magnos Stoyteller
Alex Magnos has been passionate about Comics since very young, when he first got in contact with North American comics through the old Brazilian comics mags, but it was the The Savage Sword of Conan his gamechanging, marking definitelyhis taste for the magic of storytelling, whether through graphic narratives or yarns. In the distant year of 1986, Alex gathered friends from school to create a group to tell their stories, when he then wrote scripts for humor, adventure and hero comics to publish on fanzines.
Since then, he has become a comic book collector focusing on the epic / heroic fantasy, science fiction and horror genres. It was through comics that he discovered Conan of Cimmeria, and thus, his creator, the Master of Pulp Literature, Robert E. Howard, of whom he is a follower, an unconditional admirer and a collector of his work. Through Howard, he also discovered H.P. Lovecraft, the master of cosmic horror, of whom he is also an admirer and a follower. Howard and Lovecraft, with their unique forms of fantastic, beautiful and terrifying narrative, became Alex main inspirations, in a personal way, to create his own stories, adding to them, Alan Moore, Will Eisner, Roy Thomas, Frank Miller, José Saramago, Machado de Assis, Bernard Cornwell and Rodolfo Teófilo.
In 1999, Alex founded a literary group called Os Porteiros Aletófilos (The Alethophiler Gatekeepers), which brought together writers, poets, short-story writers, comedians and cartoonists, along the lines of his home town old literary movement called A Padaria Espiritual (The Spiritual Bakery). For this group, he created and edited a periodical newspaper to which he served as editor-in-chief, writer and illustrator. In 2001, he began an editorial project with which he published Cordel Literature booklets and comics. From 2009 to 20012, he served as editor for the now-defunct Quadrix Comics magazine. In 2015, he founded the company Red Dragon Publisher, with its divisions: Red Dragon Media, which first worked in graphic designing and event promotion, visual communication and other media (now extinct); Red Dragon Books, a publishing label for books in Portuguese and English; and, Red Dragon Comics / Graphic Novel, a publishing label for comics and graphic novels in Portuguese and English.
By in 2002, Alex decided to stop drawing to dedicate himself entirely to creating his stories in prose and in comic book scripts, such as the case with Haken Kreuz that combines fantastic fiction, mythology and super powerful beings; Chronicles of Ghowndangard, a grand epic fantasy saga telling the adventures of Norse warrior Donner Therondor; Savage Lands which tells the saga of Jonas Solomon, a mercenary gunman who wanders through the backlands of northeastern Brazzil in a quest for revenge and to serve his own justice; Lochlann — Warrior of the Dark Twilight, a fantastic saga set in the Irish Highlands, exploring ancient Celtic, Druid, British and Roman cultures and mythologies.
To the presente day, Alex has published the following books: The Spectra of the Dark Mountain, a dark fantasy set in the Brazilian backlands; The Night of the Fiend, a dark fantasy set during the Spanish Inquisition and Dunkel Dark Soul, an intimate and disturbing psychologicaland urban thriller, always with the omnipresent touch of dark narrative. At the moment he is working on the composition of many ofhis personale projetcts, and in parallel, he continues translating into Portuguese Robert E. Howard’s original yarns and poems.
Thus, he has dedicated himself to finishing his literary projects in parallel with his study of Philosophy and his professional occupations as an editor, teacher, designer, speaker and international martial arts entrepreneur.
